Ulm, May 28, 2025. The University of Applied Sciences for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (FHM) has appointed Dr. Benjamin I. Behar as Professor of Healthcare Innovation Management and Competence Development. With this appointment, the FHM is strengthening its focus on future-oriented, practice-oriented teaching and research in the healthcare sector.

In addition to his extensive experience from previous teaching positions at Freie Universität Berlin, the University of Hamburg, and the University of Applied Sciences Neubrandenburg, Prof. Dr. Benjamin I. Behar brings with him the expertise he has gained over the past 20 years in the management of inpatient and outpatient care providers, as well as in the development of innovative, technology-based services in the healthcare sector.

He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and has many years of experience in consulting and managing healthcare facilities. After working at McKinsey & Company and successfully establishing a nationwide private hospital group, he has served as CEO of the Vivecti Group since 2023. With over 450 employees and support for more than 3,000 inpatient and outpatient facilities, Vivecti is the leading technology and consulting partner for healthcare providers in Germany.

“I am very pleased to have been appointed to this professorship, as I am firmly convinced that product and process innovations will play a key role in boosting the performance of our healthcare system in the coming years,” said Prof. Dr. Behar. “Technologies such as robotics, big data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence will improve medical outcomes and efficiency, but they will also transform the roles of doctors, nurses, and management. This requires new skills.”

With nine campuses and its own online university, FHM is one of the leading private universities in Germany. Among other things, it offers 45 accredited bachelor’s and master’s programs with a strong practical focus—including Physician Assistance (B.Sc.), Nursing & Management (B.Sc.), Midwifery (B.Sc.), and Digital Business Management (B.A.). Many of these programs are designed for working professionals and are explicitly aimed at employees in clinical settings. The program offerings also include degree programs in the fields of psychology, education, business, media, technology, as well as sports and health.
